The Horace Mann Educators Foundation is an independent charitable organization formed by the Horace Mann Educators Corporation to recognize the dedication of educators to helping each student reach their full potential.

The Foundation’s primary focus is to provide resources for needs identified as critical to students’ success by specific educators, schools or districts, as well as for solutions to systemic issues that are identified as roadblocks by educators. Special emphasis is given to proposals in areas where HMEC employees live and work and to projects that support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The Foundation also honors the dedication of Horace Mann Educators Corporation employees to making their communities a better place by supporting causes important to them.

In 2022, the Foundation gave more than $425,000 to support educators, employees, communities and others in need. This included:.

  • $185,000 in educator-focused grants
  • $171,500 to support strong communities
  • $53,500 to support employee giving to charitable organizations, including matching programs open to all employees
  • $15,500 in disaster relief and non-focused grants

The Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications. For more information, contact foundation@horacemann.com.
