Horace Mann partners with Scheels Sports Park to boost local economy

January 3, 2024
Horace Mann is joining other local organizations in supporting Scheels Sports Park, a new multi-use sports venue that will include a 170,000-square-foot indoor dome in Springfield. The park is expected to bring 200,000 visitors to Springfield each year and have an economic impact of $30 million.
Due to the increased economic activity that the sports park will generate, Sangamon County public schools will benefit from increases in property values and the current countywide sales tax dedicated to school infrastructure.
“The Sports Park is going to bring job opportunities, it’s going to bring new families, new people, new visitors to the community,” said VP of Talent & Culture Angela Nguyen. “And, it’s going to give opportunity for our kids to grow and be part of a team that promotes healthy lifestyles.”
Scheels Sports Park is expected to open in 2025. You can learn more about the park here and watch the video here.
